Editor for instructions and wishes
The fields for the AI – Your own instructions for the AI (Household → Tastes and rules → Advanced, Administration) and Wishes when making a meal plan – and also the Method of a recipe (recipe detail) are text editors with formatting. You write the way you are used to in a text editor and do not have to learn anything.
What the editor can do
The bar above the field offers:
| Button | Result |
|---|---|
| H1, H2, H3 | Headings |
| B, I, S | Bold, italic, strikethrough |
| ‹› | Code |
| • List, 1. List | Bullet list, numbered list |
| ❝ | Quote |
| ― | Horizontal rule |
| ↶, ↷ | Undo, redo |
You can also use keyboard shortcuts (⌘B / Ctrl+B bold, ⌘I / Ctrl+I italic, ⌘Z / Ctrl+Z undo) and Markdown while typing, e.g. ## at the start of a line makes a heading and - a bullet.
What is stored and sent
The text is stored and sent to the AI as Markdown, that is plain text with a simple syntax (## Heading, **bold**, - bullet). That keeps the instructions readable without formatting and the AI understands them as well as plain text. So do not look for decoration in the formatting – well-chosen headings and bullets help the AI to structure the instructions.
Older instructions written as plain text are displayed correctly in the editor and are stored as Markdown after the first edit.
Tips for good instructions
- Split the instructions into short sections with a heading (Goals, Breakfasts, Shopping…).
- Write rules as bullets, each separately.
- Be specific: "at least 2 meat-free meals a week" works better than "less meat".
- Short-term wishes (a visit, a party) belong in the Wishes field of a particular meal plan, not in the standing instructions.
